Shiva Temple Aarti Maha Kumbh 2025 Bengaluru Techie Suicide Kolkata Water System Nikita Singhania Govt warns versus consuming jatropha curcas fruits!.?.!Pearl.DSouza@timesofindia.com/ Dec 4, 2024, 23:53 IST Share AA + Text Size Small Medium Large Follow us Bengaluru: After a group of five females and eight kids were hospitalised from eating Jatropha curcas seeds in Chamarajanagar district last week, the food safety commissionerate has cautioned about the possibility of public health being impacted due to intake of toxic fruits.Commissioner of food security, Srinivas K, stated while all parts of jatropha curcas plants are dangerous, the seeds contain a high concentration of ricin and are more harmful."The unfavorable effects after taking in the seeds are vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and a burning feeling in the throat.
Vomiting and diarrhoea take place within fifteen minutes of usage. Also, since the seeds have a pleasant taste, there is a possibility of a higher impact on the health of children, "Srinivas cautioned about the evergreen tropical plant with thin stems.Thirteen members of Banjara (nomadic) neighborhood who were hospitalised at Kollegal taluk hospital in Chamarajanagar were released in a day. One kid with intellectual disabilities was kept in observation before being discharged, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, Chidambara S told TOI.He stated
members of the neighborhood remained in Kollegal for sugarcane-cutting work.
