Shiva Temple Aarti Maha Kumbh 2025 Bengaluru Techie Suicide Kolkata Water System Nikita Singhania Govt warns versus consuming jatropha fruits!.?.!Pearl.DSouza@timesofindia.com/ Dec 4, 2024, 23:53 IST Share AA + Text Size Small Medium Large Follow us Bengaluru: After a group of 5 females and eight kids were hospitalised from eating Jatropha curcas seeds in Chamarajanagar district recently, the food security commissionerate has warned about the possibility of public health being impacted due to intake of poisonous fruits.Commissioner of food security, Srinivas K, stated while all parts of jatropha plants are poisonous, the seeds consist of a high concentration of ricin and are more harmful."The negative effects after taking in the seeds are vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and a burning experience in the throat.
Vomiting and diarrhoea occur within fifteen minutes of usage. Also, given that the seeds have a pleasant taste, there is a possibility of a higher influence on the health of children, "Srinivas warned about the evergreen tropical plant with thin stems.Thirteen members of Banjara (nomadic) community who were hospitalised at Kollegal taluk healthcare facility in Chamarajanagar were released in a day. One kid with intellectual disabilities was kept in observation before being discharged, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, Chidambara S told TOI.He said
members of the neighborhood were in Kollegal for sugarcane-cutting work.
