Shiva Temple Aarti Maha Kumbh 2025 Bengaluru Techie Suicide Kolkata Water System Nikita Singhania Govt cautions against consuming jatropha fruits!.?.!Pearl.DSouza@timesofindia.com/ Dec 4, 2024, 23:53 IST Share AA + Text Size Small Medium Large Follow us Bengaluru: After a group of 5 women and 8 kids were hospitalised from consuming Jatropha jatropha curcas seeds in Chamarajanagar district recently, the food security commissionerate has actually cautioned about the possibility of public health being affected due to usage of dangerous fruits.Commissioner of food security, Srinivas K, stated while all parts of jatropha curcas plants are toxic, the seeds include a high concentration of ricin and are more poisonous."The negative results after taking in the seeds are vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and a burning experience in the throat.
Vomiting and diarrhoea take place within fifteen minutes of intake. Also, considering that the seeds have an enjoyable taste, there is a possibility of a higher impact on the health of kids, "Srinivas cautioned about the evergreen tropical plant with thin stems.Thirteen members of Banjara (nomadic) community who were hospitalised at Kollegal taluk healthcare facility in Chamarajanagar were released in a day. One child with intellectual specials needs was kept in observation before being discharged, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, Chidambara S told TOI.He said
members of the neighborhood remained in Kollegal for sugarcane-cutting work.
